Muay Thai or Thai Kickboxing is a striking martial art that originates from Thailand. Muay Thai uses punches, kicks, elbows and knees to attack, as well as an upright form of grappling called 'Clinching'. Muay Thai is not only great for self defence; it's also a great way to get fit and build strength whilst learning something new and engaging!

Mixed Martial Arts

Mixed Martial Arts, or MMA, is a combination of all other martial arts into one wholistic form for fighting or self defence. MMA is extremely diverse and can go anywhere; MMA can involve fighting on the ground, against a wall or out in the open. As such, Mixed Martial Arts is truly the best form to learn for self defence. Whilst we love competition Mixed Martial Arts at Ascend, our MMA classes are open to everyone regardless of skill or fitness level, and are great for self defence or competition.
