We've been getting a lot of our members and parents at Ascend Martial Arts asking for a tutorial on how to tie the martial arts belt, or Obi as it’s known in Japanese. Below you'll find both pictures and a video providing a step-by-step guide on our two favourite methods.
Watch this video below to see two great methods for tying your martial arts belt.
For the first method shown in the video, you can also refer to this picture guide below!
I hope this helps everyone get more familiar with the process for tying belts. Also, here's a little piece of martial arts etiquette information for adults when you're tying your belt in class. Make sure you face toward a wall when tying your belt and straightening your Gi. It's considered rude to do so while facing your classmates or instructor. Your belt and Gi should be neat and tidy before you line up at the beginning and end of class.
Make sure to let us know if this tutorial blog has helped you or not! If it did, please give it a like and maybe leave a comment! You can also share this post around to others you think will benefit.
